Route 66

Route 66 Map

In the 1920s and 1930s, new highways opened the way for automobiles to California. Some Americans used highways to migrate, and many began to take to the highways for pleasure. A symbol of independence and freedom, Route 66 was the most symbolic of all.

San Bernardino and Los Angeles were the end of the Route.

"California Here I Come," many times was via Route 66, until the Interstate system was started in the 1960's.
